Still waiting…

December 26, 2007

12/27 pm:  Home from the doctor with the same news we have had the last 4 weeks.  No progression at all with my cervix.  Good news is. . . we have a very healthy baby who is very happy in its home (the first part is good, second part is a little frustrating).  Plan is to go into the hospital on the night of Jan 1 to be given some cervidil (don’t know if that is how you spell it) which will hopefully encourage my cervix to start doing its thing.  Then in the am of the 2nd they would try to break my water and hopefully then give me medication to induce labor.  The doctor did say today we might have to get this baby out by c-section, but they will not go straight to c-section without trying to get my body to “work” first.  So, that is that.  We would still love for it to come on its own before the first, but we shall see what God has planned for this little ones birthday.  We will keep you posted. . .

12/27:  Well. . . no baby still.  We go to the doctor at 4:30 today for a sonogram.  She will check to make sure the baby isn’t too big, the fluid looks Ok, the placenta looks Ok etc.  If not, might induce sooner than later.  Otherwise, she mentioned trying to get me on the books at the hospital to induce on Jan 2.  Jeff and I are so ready to meet this little one that we are really hoping it comes before the 2nd.  I would also love to by-pass being induced.  We shall see what is in store.  New pics posted.

12/26-I figured it was about time that I actually write something on this blog.  Allison and I have had a great time with her parents and grandmother here in Columbia.  We went to a great dinner for Allison’s birthday and have been relaxing at home watching movies and eating and eating and eating.

Last night we went to a park where we drove through a pretty awesome Christmas light display.  I think it was 250,000 lights or something crazy like that.

Allison’s dad and grandmother are leaving this evening-we were both hoping the little one would come before they left.  I guess the baby loves its home–he/she is going to be pretty pissed when it comes out.

Stay tuned to the blog for more news on the impending arrival of Baby Crane.  Here’s hoping for  a pre-2008 arrival and tax deduction.

Allison and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and all things good in 2008!

-Jeff
