I am growing like a . . .
January 31, 2008
weed (that is what they say atleast). Yes, folks, I am one healthy guy. My mom took me to a follow-up doctor’s appointment yesterday (my 4 week old birthday- all I got was my normal milk. . . I was hoping for some cake, but I guess I have to wait on that). Well, they stripped me down- which I have to say is not a nice feeling- and weighed me. The scale says I weigh 10 pounds 12 ounces! The doctor told my mom that by the looks of my weight there is no concern with my eating. My mom and dad say I am really changing fast. My infection I had is gone so basically my mom spent the rest of the appointment picking the doctor’s brain with her questions.
Now for the good stuff. My friend Brady is so cool. He is one happy guy and he is pretty into me. He can’t quite figure out why I don’t really do anything in response to his putting his hand on my hand or belly or foot, but none the less, he still likes me. My mom keeps telling him that next time we see eachother we will have a little more fun. Our moms propped us up to take some pictures today and we both tumped over. . . and rather than picking us up, they both just kept clicking away (my mom wants me to tell you not to worry, that we were on a bed so no injuries were sustained)! But, we were pretty laid back about it- just wondered if they had noticed we were laying down vs. sitting up. Today in the kitchen we did play a back and forth game of who could be the loudest. . . it was pretty fun. We have been on a couple outings together and have of course wooed the ladies around us. Brady is especially good at this. . . I am trying to take some tips from him. Overall, I love my new best friend. I definitely see some great times ahead in our future!
PS- note from my mom- she says she will post some pictures but it might take her till early next week so hang in there with us

my friend Brady Watson is on his way!! Brady will be my first ever friend to meet! He is coming all the way from Chicago to hang out with me. Apparently he is also bringing along his mom and dad, Kelly and Todd, who my mom and dad say are great friends from TCU. Also, they keep telling me that Brady and I will be going to this TCU place in about 18 years or so, along with lots of other “little Frogs” like Josh Vorel, Charlotte Everly, Rylie Galanos, Hudson Reasor, and the other babies that are on the way. Sounds fun to me! Brady is 8 months older than me and I have over-heard my parents say maybe he will pass along some good info. to me while he is here. Stay tuned later this week for some cute pictures I am sure. Adios (my dad is trying to teach me some spanish)!
All Dressed Up & Ready to Go . . .
January 28, 2008
to Church! Yep, Ford made his first appearance at church! He got all dressed up and did great during the service. If he was writing this he would tell you that we didn’t quite have it all together and got there about 20 minutes late. . . but, better late than never. He got one of his cases of hiccups and then fell asleep for the rest of the service. Such a good boy! During the sermon the pastor talked about God’s incredible love for us. He said even though we love our children so much (which Jeff and I now know what that feels like) – God loves us even more. It is pretty overwhelming to imagine and realize that! But, Ford is definitely one of God’s great expressions of love to Jeff and me. We are so thankful for him. He is definitely an answered prayer.
1/26 We survived!!
January 26, 2008
Ford and I survived our first night with just the two of us. Jeff traveled to Kentucky with our men’s basketball team last night for the game this afternoon and will return this evening. To be honest, I was pretty apprehensive about it and our day didn’t start out so hot, but ended great. Ford was wide awake Friday from about 7:15 am till about 2:30pm with only 1.5 hours worth of naps (3 short naps). He was so tired (and so was I) but poor thing wouldn’t fall asleep and stay asleep. Thankfully he went down in his crib a little before 10 and slept for almost 3 hours at a time! So, when we woke up today we both felt much better! He is still recuperating from yesterday and sleeping quite a bit. It will be interesting to see what he does tonight- he may be so rested that he is up and ready to party (I hope not). I posted some pics we took the other day in his “Future Mr. Right” onesie. These pics are for all his future girl friends out there. Also put two from today- as you can tell he is still tuckered out. Hope everyone is great!!

We had a great long weekend with Jason and Kari. Unfortunately, they had to go back to Ft. Worth this morning. I have posted a few new pics from the weekend. Hope you enjoy!
More from Ford…
January 21, 2008
I think I’m getting a hold of this technology thing…my Grandad just sent me my first e-mail yesterday–pretty cool. Things have really been moving right along in my short life, so far. I have been begging for a bath for the last week or so and my parents finally got the guts to do it. I was clearly more calm than they were..at least for the first 30 seconds. I can only take the water stuff for so long. Thank goodness my Uncle Jason and Aunt Kari were there to document the entire thing b/c there was no shot mom and dad were going to get that accomplished.
Speaking of aunts and uncles, I kind of like these people. They just hold me, kiss me, bring me presents and let me play on their laptop. My mom and dad tell me Jason and Kari are first time aunt and uncle, but I sure can’t tell. In fact, those parentals of mine could learn a thing or two. I had lots of fun watching Jason download pictures and videos of your’s truly on the laptop and Kari sure knows how to snuggle.
If I can get my dad up and going, I will post some pics and video from the bath debacle. I guess mom and dad will get better at it.
Look forward to chatting again soon…

Our growing boy!
January 18, 2008
Jeff and I took Ford to his 2 week old doctor’s appt. on Weds. He now weighs 9 lbs 4.5 oz (75th percentile) and is 21 3/4 inches long (90th percentile for height). Ford was so patient and very alert when he was getting his check-up (the doctor even commented on his alertness). We can tell he is getting bigger. His white hat with the South Carolina Palmetto on it that you see him wearing in some of the pics is now getting smaller on his head! He can still wear it but it definitely won’t be one he can wear for long. It still amazes me that this little boy is ours. We love watching him as he is falling asleep. He makes the funniest faces sometimes. He will scrunch up his nose, “smile,” open his mouth wide. It is pretty cute. I posted a few more pictures. Sorry it has been so long. Have a great weekend!
All on our own. . .
January 14, 2008
Hello everyone! It’s been awhile since I have actually posted anything so I thought I would take a minute to do so. Am trying to type this one-handed as I have the sweetest little guy in my other arm.
Things have been going pretty well over all. Ford is doing a better job going to sleep decently vs. staying up to party like he has done a few nights. The nights he does go to sleep easily then correlate to great days for me the following day- go figure.
Jeff and my mom have been incredible! I am so thankful for both of them! Jeff has been such a great Daddy to Ford- and has been a great husband helping around the house. My mom was busy cooking away and we now have meals frozen in our new extra freezer so that I won’t have to cook for quite some time- which is wonderful!! Ford of course is in love with his Grandma and Grandpa who he loves to snuggle with. My mom left today to head home so Ford and I are now on our own. . . hopefully we can handle eachother.
Ford seems to be getting bigger and on Wednesday we go for his 2 week check up. We are anxious to see how much he weighs.
We have had lots of visitors – both at the hospital and at home. We feel very thankful to have such wonderful people in Columbia to support us. It has been fun introducing Ford to all of them. Ford is really excited to meet his Uncle Jason and Aunt Kari who arrive on Saturday.
Not too much else to report. I am feeling good most days but can still tell I am not “healed” yet. Can’t drive for atleast another 2 weeks and am still supposed to take it easy. That is much easier said than done.
Thanks to all of you for keeping up with us and being patient for our entries! Hope you all are doing great!! Till next time. . .
A Day In The Life Of Ford
January 11, 2008
(Editor’s Note:New pictures posted in Featuring Ford section)
Hello world–Ford Crane here again. I think my parents are so sleep deprived that I am going to have to become a full time blogger because they are not meeting the demands of all of my fans out there.
Here’s a quick update on what I’ve been doing…sleeping, eating, pooping…no, not really, just a little baby humor for you. I actually got to go in my mom’s new car the other day. Grandma Sue, Grandpa Bob, Mom, Dad, and I went to some place called Chili’s for lunch. I guess this was my first real “outing”…not too big of a deal, but I got a lot of attention from the waitresses, so that was cool.
My parents tell me they are margainly happy with my sleeping pattern. I always try to keep them on their toes, so I decided to stay up until 3:00 am the other night and 5:00 am the next. Fun for me, but the parentals seemed a little pissed–they’ll get over it.
As promised, I am launching my new television show soon. As the executive producer, director and star actor, I have hired my dad as the cameraman. He seems to be doing ok. The writer’s strike has thrown us all off, so the clips for the pilot are not quite as polished as I had hoped, but I hope you will enjoy it.
Curtains, please–and now on to A Day In The Life Of Ford–I call this “The Birthday”.

1/5-No Place Like Home
January 6, 2008
1/5-1:00 pm–Mom, Dad and Ford make it home from the hospital. After a quick tour of the house for Ford, Grandma Sue made lunch. He seems to be adjusting to his surroundings fairly well. Allison is doing an outstanding job trying to get this guy to eat. For one reason or another, he has not been eating as well. To be safe, we are giving him supplements and will go to the doctor tomorrow for a quick weight check, etc. No reason to be alarmed, just standard procedure, so we are told.
Allison’s dad is getting in late tonight after flight trouble. We are excited to show him off to Grandpa Bob soon.
Please continue to pray for sleep for the three of us—and Sue! She has been a blessing from above for sure.
1/5-4:25 pm–SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM FORD
Ok world, here we go. I am full steam ahead now. I busted out of this hospital place and am finally to my new home. I must say, I was a little disappointed that there weren’t 22 different nurses gloating over me when I arrived, but I think I am going to like this place.
In my new found celebrity status, I did not expect to be bombarded by the paparazzi before I even left the hospital. For crying out loud (which I like to do a lot), my dad has somehow mastered the art of double-fisting cameras. Video camera in one hand, still camera in the other and Grandma Sue not far behind with more cameras. As soon as the stars get out of my eyes, I will get my uncle to post some of these gems on “Featuring Ford”.
I have had lots of visitors, which is pretty fun, but gets kind of tiring some times. Mom’s friends from school are pretty hilarious…I think I may have them on as guests of my television show, if I can ever get that off the ground.
Check back with you again soon–
Cryinginly yours–Ford
