Lots to share

March 27, 2008

Last week Ford met his Grandad Jeff!  He had a great time playing and showing him his strong lungs.  Yes, Ford had probably the worst few nights he has ever had and let his Grandad witness this.  Poor Ford was crying a lot and seemed to be in pain with gas and wasn’t sleeping at night (therefore, we weren’t sleeping either).  Easter morning was a tough one and Jeff and I were not able to make it out to church to celebrate but were able to go eat a nice brunch with all of us that afternoon.

Monday I called the doctor’s office and they recommended I bring Ford in later that day.  He was diagnosed with reflux and put on meds that we started that night.  He was weighed and is now 13 lbs 4 oz!  The doctor was happy with his growth, especially considering the reflux.  We were told his sleeping habits should improve once the medicine does its thing.  Last night was a great night and it was such a relief to have him sleep in his crib and really only wake up to eat.  We are praying this continues as I am extremely exhausted (as I guess most parents are) and I go back to work on Monday.

My mom is flying in tonight to help take care of Ford while I go back to work.  Say a prayer for her and Ford as he is not yet taking the bottle- but come Monday will have no other choice since I won’t be here.  Could be a rough day or two for them.

Say a prayer for me too- I am not looking forward to leaving my little boy.  I have loved staying at home with him and can’t believe it is already time to go back!

Ford and I have been taking walks together most days and he has cool sunglasses he wears.  :)   I will try to take a picture soon of  this to post.  It is just too funny.  He is also loving his new activity mat and his bumbo chair!

See new pics!

-time to meet baby Lillie Vorel and her big bro Josh (and their parents Courtney and Jason), baby Charlotte Everly (her parents Amanda and Joseph), Rylie Galanos (and her mom Kari), and Laura Chudy Sat 3/15

-time to meet baby Thessalie Stuntz (only 5 days old!), her mom Chrissie, Hudson Reasor (and his parents Scott and Nikki), our friends Amy Curry, and Dana and Jeremy Weart

As you can see Ford had a busy week and very successful travels!  He loved my parents dog Bailey.  Bailey decided Ford was his baby and was very good about checking on him, especially when he cried.  My grandma loved seeing him for the first time and it was a special thing to introduce them.  We had a great time with my parents and Ford got some great snuggle time with his grandma and grandpa.  The six inches of fresh snow Fri morning was also a treat.

Texas was a whirl wind tour- not even 2 full days.  We surprised Courtney with our visit which was so fun!  Loved meeting all the new babies and Ford’s new girlfriends. :)    He sure does seem big compared to them!  It was really fun to see so many TCU friends and introduce them to our sweet boy!  On Sunday Ford’s uncle Jason and aunt Kari came over to see us for awhile which was great as well.  Overall we had a wonderful trip and can’t wait to go back hopefully this summer for a little longer (both Colo and Texas).

Ford has really been grabbing onto things lately.  He also is getting his fingers into his mouth and thinks they taste quite nice.  He is such a mover (always moving his legs and arms) and talker.  It is funny to not only listen to him talk, but watch his facial expressions as well.

I only have one week left at home with him until returning to work for the last 10 weeks of the school year.  I am not ready yet and can’t believe my time is almost up.  He still wants nothing to do with the bottle. . . could be a rough few days for my mom who will be watching him.  I am thankful she will be here with him.

Attached some new pics from our trips.  You will see that Ford was quite tired when we were in Texas.  He wanted to be such the social guy that it wore him out. :)   He has recovered nicely.

I’m Back!

March 3, 2008

Hey cyber-friends–It’s me, Ford.  I want to apologize to you for being so absent lately.  I never fully recovered from that writer’s strike and have been holding out for more money.  I finally decided that my fans could wait no longer.

Here’s a brief recap of my last couple of weeks…and they’ve been wild ones!

-Went to Charleston with Mom and Grandma a couple of weeks ago.  It was pretty fun, but I never left the hotel room, so how much fun is that, really.  Grandma tells me that when I get a little older, we can explore the big city.  I really had fun with her though…undivided attention for almost three days-cool!

-Mom and Dad took me to the big South Carolina vs. Clemson baseball game this past weekend–now that was fun.  The Gamecocks won!  You can check out pics from the game on ‘Featuring Ford’.

-The weather here has been great, so I’ve been out in the neighborhood quite a bit.  I really like strolling the streets, but I usually fall asleep within the first 10 minutes.  Strollers are great beds.

-My mom’s friend Briana came to town last week.  She’s a real “Ford Expert” because she works with babies (EDITOR’s NOTE-As a reminder, I am now two months old and am not really a baby anymore, but you get the point.) every day.  Kind of nice to see that Mom and Dad may know more about me than I gave them credit for.  Aunt Briana says they are doing everything so well.  Can’t wait to meet her son, Hunter–I hear he is really good at basketball which could be helpful for me in the future.

Before I sign off, just wanted to remind you that my Grandad is coming for Easter.  My mom says she ordered me an Easter basket.  I hope Grandad plans to hide eggs for me…I need to get started early.

Check ya later–Ford
