Tidbits and Treasures #9

10/1 This was the day we brought Crews home.  It was so sweet to hear all of the things I listed below.  Ford was so excited that we were all home.

He told me:  “I’m a good big brother.  I’m a good volleyball player.”  Not sure how the two are related, but he seemed to think they were.

Going over to the bassinet where Crews was sleeping Ford peered over and said “Hi Buddy!” and then excitedly said “The baby looked at me!”

Later that same day he went over to Crews and said “Hi brother!”

10/3  Ford said to me “I like our baby.” Later he was kissing Crews’ face and mittens that had been in his mouth and had been spit up on and Ford said “Why does he smell bad?”

10/5 Ford looked at me and said “Momma your tummy is small!”  (Made my day!)

10/17 Ford said to me “Momma, I am proud that you can drive.”  He thought it was so wonderful once I was finally able to start driving again after my c-section.

10/18  Ford said “I love you Momma.”  I said back to Ford “I love you Ford Bean.  I’m thankful for you,” and Ford replied “I’m thankful for you too.”  Moments like that I hope I will always remember.

10/16 When Ford was with Jeff he said: “You know what Dad?  I love you so much!”

10/23  Ford said “Crews is my best baby, Dada.”

11/6 Ford said to Jeff  “Dad, you’re a mess.  You’re a piece of paper!”  He meant “You’re a piece of work.”

Later that day when Ford and Jeff were at the volleyball game Ford asked Jeff why the Gamecocks were wearing “underwear.”  Have to give it to the kid, the volleyball “shorts” they wear do look a tad like underwear.

11/7  While we were playing “zoo” in Ford’s room he told me: “When I grow up I’m gonna be a zookeeper.  To help the animals.  All the animals.  But not the gorilla or the crocodile.”

11/9 Ford told me “Dada didn’t detal my floss last night!”  Which means Jeff forget to floss his teeth.

12/6 While we were driving he said to me “These are some beautiful houses!”

12/8 While Ford and I were reading a Christmas book he told me “Jesus is the reason for the season!”

12/20 As we were leaving a friends house he said “These are nice houses on this street.”  Later in the car I asked him what he had told me about the houses and he said “They’re beautiful.”

12/23 While playing in Gramma and Papa’s basement  “all we need is a refrigerator and then we will be all set.”

12/28  While playing in the basement with Jeff Ford asked:  “Can we live here? All we need is a refrigerator.”

12/29   Ford on car ride to airport asked: “Gramma, are you wearing your nightgown?”

-Ford seeing an iron fence around an apartment complex asked:  “why do they have a gate? I bet it’s to keep the wolves out.”  I think he meant “coyotes” as we saw a coyote on a dirt pile on the way to my Grandmother’s the day before.

1/4 After playing with his new submarine in the bathtub that he got from Isabel Ford said:  “My friends gave me special things for my birthday.”  It was said in the most sincere, sweetest way.

He then said to Jeff:  “This weekend do you want to play marching band?  I will play the drum and you have the ramonica (aka “harmonica”) and mom can be the major!”  The boy loves to pretend he is in the marching band during half-time of us playing football or basketball.

A couple of different times lately Ford has said that he wanted a boy and God gave him a boy, Crews!  It is so cute when he says it and I really feel he is so thankful to have a brother.  Here are quite a few pictures that I have not yet had a chance to post of the two brothers together.

Tidbits and Treasures #8

September 26, 2011

Back in July when I woke Ford up to get ready for airport to Colorado the first thing he said was” I’m ready to go to the airport!!”

While waiting for our stroller to come off the plane in Chicago Ford was holding my hand. I lifted his hand up and gave him a few kisses.  He then lifted my hand and kissed my hand in return.

On the airplane to Chicago from Colorado Springs I told Ford that the next time we fly after our trip we will have Peanut with us.  He asked where I was going to sit.  I told him I would sit next to him and Peanut will be in my lap.  He immediately said “well, Peanut will sit in my lap.”

In August when we were getting baby things out of attic I found some stuffed animals I had in a work box.  I took some if them out.  They were on the floor and as Ford came upstairs he went straight to them and picked some up and hugged them.  The walrus has now become one of his constant companions.  I got the walrus my first trip to Sea World when it first opened in San Antonio.  He is in perfect condition and Ford loves him and will tell us that the sea-lion show was his favorite (the walrus was in that show).  Jeff also said as he saw Ford go straight to the stuffed animals, hugging and talking to them, “just like his Momma.”  And in that way, he is like me.

When we were at the beach in August Ford showed me something he had made in the sand.  He told me “I could do that because I am creative!”  And he is and we are thankful for that creativity and imagination!

8/14  We ordered Ford the next “car seat” up to put in Jeff’s car as an extra for now.  It is a booster seat that he can use full-time once Peanut outgrows the infant car seat and needs the car seat Ford is currently in.  For now it has been handy and allows for Jeff to take Ford in his car without having to move the seat from my car.  Ford loves his new ride!  Here he is for his first ride!

8/31 While trying to organize the basement a little I found our wedding album so showed Ford the pictures.  As we were looking at the cake pictures (and one with TCU and the Horned Frog on the groom’s cake) Ford said “When I marry Isabel there’s gonna be a real Cocky on the front of the cake!”

9/1 Ford has not been sleeping during naps lately.  Some days he will, others he won’t.  But, I keep him up there for a quiet time every day.  On this day he yelled down “How long left of naps?”  I told him he had 30 minutes left and he said exasperated “thirty minutes?! How about two minutes?”  He is such a negotiator!

Lately when Ford is watching a show he will ask me to come watch with him.  We sit on the couch and he will gently place his right hand on my forearm and just leave it there.  I absolutely love it, especially becuase if I try to put my arm around him or on him, he usually moves it away.

9/19 Ford and Jeff were together playing and Ford said to his Dada “I like your hair Dada.  It’s cute.”

9/20 When I came downstairs after getting ready for the day he said “OOooo I like your beautiful dress Momma.”

9/23 During his nap/quiet time I heard Ford saying a prayer over the monitor.  I couldn’t tell exactly what he was saying as I caught the tail end of it after coming out of the laundry room.  But it was so sweet to me that he was upstairs in his bed praying.

9/26 As we came downstairs from his nap Ford said “I’m happy to have a baby!”  Am praying he will feel this way come Wednesday!

Here is a picture from August 31 when Ford was “fueling up” his Turbo Turtle using his bug catcher.

Since getting our rug and couch in the family room cleaned this summer we now have a “no eating in the family room” rule.  Ford has done a great job following it and has been quick to correct either of his parents when we have forgotten.  One night when Ford was up late he came out of his rom and saw Jeff eating in the family room.  He told Jeff “Dada you aren’t supposed to eat in the family room.  I told you three times.”  Can’t get away with much any more with out Ford pointing it out.

9/25 We went to Chick-Fil-A this morning and met up with Tripp, Hayes and Charlie (school was cancelled due to flooding from yesterday’s intense rain and power outage as well).  The boys were playing in the indoor play place and all but Ford at one point were tackling each other.  We have been working on keeping our hands to ourselves and not tackling, so I was extremely proud of Ford for staying back and not getting involved.  Emily went in to talk to the three who were being too rough and said if they didn’t stop they would have to leave.  To which Ford replied “Yeah, and then I will be here all by myself!”

My mom arrived this evening and after dinner when Jeff referred to her as “Sue” Ford said to him quietly “Why are you calling her Sue?”

Ford was so excited to see Gramma.  He talked non-stop all evening.  At one point he said “Gramma, tomorrow you get to play with me lots!”

On a Saturday after naps Jeff gave Ford from Skittles he still had from Easter. I asked if I could have one and he said “you can have a red one for Gamecocks.”

When Ford and I went to beach in May he and Isabel were watching tv in the morning while Holley, Stephen and I were in the kitchen getting breakfast. Not not long after going to the tv room we heard Ford yell “Dr. Stephen this isn’t propriate.” We went in and saw that the show that wasn’t “appropriate” was the news. I love that our boy will tell us when something is and isn’t “propriate” and that he will ask me “Momma, is this show propriate?” if he isn’t sure.

5/25 Ford and I went to Zoe’s for a piece of cake and to say “hi” to Gran and Meme. I called it a “cake date.” Afterwards we went to the library and as we were walking in holding hands Ford said “I love you Momma. That was a great cake date.” And it was. It was just perfect.

5/29 Ford knew that while in San Antonio Aunt Briana and Hunter were going to bring us to a hotel to see some of our TCU friends, including his pal Charlotte. On Sunday he said “Tomorrow I get to see Charlotte. I love Charlotte.”

5/30. While in San Antonio at Briana and Hunter’s Ford enjoyed Hunter’s basketball game he had in his room. While playing Ford said to me “You’re not good at basketball. I am good at basketball. You are good at volleyball.” At least he thinks I am good at something, I guess.

6/1 At our resort in San Antonio with our friends we spent a day at the pool and on the lazy river they had. While floating on the lazy river one round ford was sitting on a tube. He said “I’m so tall.” I asked how he got so tall and he said ” because I drinked my milk all gone!”

Jeff brought Ford a hockey tshirt from Canada. Ford was so excited to wear his new “jersey” and told all his friends while in San Antonio “I’m gonna wear my jersey tomorrow!” And sure enough, the next morning he sported his new jersey. And of course he didn’t want to take it off.

I love that Ford calls his fiber one oats and chocolate granola bars “chocolate Roga bars” and that he still says “peanut jelly”or “peanut jelly and sandwich” for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. I also love that he says “Soakdin” as in “my shirt got soakdin” after he spilled some water on it.

The night before we left for our recent trip Ford woke up in the middle of the night (I think it was thunder if I am remembering correctly?). After not going back to sleep in his own bed he came in ours. I got out of bed around 7 and started getting ready and this is how the boys were sleeping.

When I went back a little later this is what I saw. Ford is definitely a cuddle bug at night and tends to push his Dada to the very edge of the big bed.

6/9 After picking Ford up from camp we played trains in the family room. Together we built a circular track and then Ford built more tracks coming from it. He likes to get a ton of his trains and put them together to form one big, long line. When it was time to go upstairs for his nap/quiet time he asked if he could bring all the trains. I told him he could bring four. He proceeded to gather up more than four to which I said, “That is too many. Just bring four.” He looked and me and said “I don’t want four, I want too many.”

One of my favorite questions that Ford will ask us is “What ‘n do?” Which translates to “And do what?” Example, Momma: “Ford it’s time to get dressed and head to Target.” Ford: “What ‘n do?”

A few days before Jeff came home from Omaha Ford said to me: “When Dada gets home I’m gonna hug him and kiss him and hug him. I missed him a long time.”

Ford came down with a bit of a stuffy nose early this week. I love that he says his nose is “snuffy.”

As were we walking out the door to this weeks’s camp (at our church) Ford said to us “do you know I love Isabel?!”. Pretty sure we do. And we think it is awesome that they are such special friends.

One morning as he was stretching on his changing table Ford said “I’m stronger.  My milk last night made my muscles stronger!”

Ford said to me one day out of the blue “When I get big I can drive the car and Baby Peanut can sit by me!”

Another time “I loooove Baby Peanut!”

One night when we were reading in our bed before bedtime Ford looked my tummy and said “is there a hospital in there?”

After reading books one night Ford said “Momma I want you to put me night-nights.”  I was tired and said “I think Dada should, he is stronger than me.”  Ford then said “Dad you’re strong?  I’m strong!  Momma, you’re not strong.”

After taking Ford to the baseball game one Saturday he said to us multiple times “Thanks for taking me to the baseball game Mommy and Daddy!”

As I came downstairs to go to church one Sunday Ford said “Momma, look at your beautiful blue dress!”  and another time he said to me “Momma, you look beautiful!”

One day after I had made some rice krispie treats during Ford’s nap he came down in the kitchen and said “smells good down here.  Momma, it smells great!”

The night we picked up my mom from the airport Ford said to Jeff “Thanks for picking Gramma up for me Dad!”  The next day he said the same thing to me.

When Gramma and Papa were here they took Ford to Chick-Fil-A for lunch and to see the Easter Cow.

For a few days after Jeff and I got back from Mexico Ford would say “I am so glad you came back home!”  or “Thanks for coming back home!”

The night we got home from Mexico Ford had his first nightmare.  He woke up crying out “there’s a bird in my room!  there’s a bird in my room!”  The next morning he told me that a bird had bitten him  the night before.  Poor little guy was really scared.  Bedtime the next night was really tough as he didn’t want his dream to come back.  He will still at times ask if he his dream is going to come.

After Ford woke up from his bad dream I couldn’t get him to calm down with out me being in the room.  We had only been home about an hour and I was so tired I decided to bring him in our bed.  I have noticed he sleeps so soundly when he is with us and he loves to curl up right next to one of us.  And if he isn’t plastered against one of us his head is next to mine and his feet by Jeff’s.  The boy loves to snuggle and always has.

On April 26 I took Ford for his follow-up weight check from his three year check up back in January. He now weighs 31 pounds, 4 ounces and is 38 inches tall!  I was so proud of him and the nurse said that Dr. Greenhouse would be pleased!  Ford was proud of himself too!

On April 27 Baskin Robbins had their 31 cent scoop night.  Our family went to get some yummy and cheap ice cream and to see the firetrucks, police cars and other activities they have.  Ford loved it all and especially loved his chocolate chip ice cream cone.  He ate every single bite!

On April 28 Ford had his six month check up at the dentist.  He was confident going in and told me he wasn’t going to cry and was going to sit in the chair all by himself.  He made it in the room and almost to the chair before turning around to walk out and at which point he began crying.  I got him next to me on the chair (barely) but he was so upset I couldn’t hold his legs and arms/hands by myself.  Someone else came to help but it was so sad to see him so scared.  He even covered his mouth with his hands!  Eventually he “gave in” and let them clean his teeth.  When the dentist came in he even let her look in his mouth with the mirror (a first), floss his teeth and “paint” vitamins on.  For the next couple of days he kept opening his mouth saying “look at my teeth!”

4/30  Felt baby Peanut’s hiccups for the first time.

5/1  Jeff asked Ford “how old will you be on your next birthday?”  Ford replied “22!”

Ford likes to play “zoo” sometimes in his room.  He gets out every single one of his stuffed animals from his basket, places them around the room (usually on the floor) and pretends to feed them, clean their cages, and put them to naps or night-nights (sometimes getting down on the floor with them).

Playing Zoo April 8

Ford LOVES being “introduced.”  He especially loves it when Jeff will put on “Sandstorm” and introduce him.  Ford will run up to “the locker room” (our room), close the door, waits for the music to start and waits for Jeff to say “Introducing Ford Crane!” and then opens the door and runs down the hall and down the stairs.

After we watched the end of the Gamecock baseball game against Auburn Ford found his play phone.  He picked it up and called Hayes who loves Auburn.  Ford said “Hi Hayes!  The Gameocks beat Auburn!”

After eating at the training table for dinner on May 3 Ford and Jeff stopped to take this picture in front of the construction site of the new athletics administration offices.

A few weeks back Ford got down on the floor next to Kitty and said in his sweet, soft voice, “Is Jesus in your tummy Kitty?”  I reminded him that Jesus is in our hearts and he then started telling her “God’s in your heart Kitty, God is in your heart.”  Over and over again.  Kitty must have heard that at least ten times.

Another time to Kitty Ford said “I hurt my finger Kitty, God is going to heal it.”

When my mom was here we went to eat at Zoe’s and saw Gran and Meme.  They had a Valentine’s card for Ford with money in it for him to go pick out something he would like.  He told us he wanted to buy “cake, flowers, and a green baseball.”  My mom and I had no idea what “green baseball” he had in mind, but when we got to Target he found them.  Green softballs, just like he had seen at the softball game awhile back with Jeff.  He ended up buying some new golf clubs with his money too.  He loved handing the cashier his money from Gran and Meme!

At the softball game last weekend when my mom was in town Ford asked “when we get home, where we goin?”  The “Where we goin’” question gets asked frequently.

While my mom was here Ford told Jeff “in a few weeks I’m gonna go to Gramma’s house for Christmas and Santa is going to bring me a banjo!”

As Ford and I were playing the other day I said “God and Jesus love you so much.  You are their boy.”  Ford said to me “no, I don’t want to be their boy.”  I asked why not and he said “I want to be your boy!”  I tried my best to explain that above all is he belongs to God and because of God, he is ours too.  Confusing for a three-year old.

Almost every night when we ask for what he wants to tell God or ask God during prayers he will mention Isabel.  The other night he said he wanted to pray for Isabel and that her hand would get better.  Such a sweet friend.

After we read books at night Ford has been wanting to get “under the tent” (the covers).  He will then say he wants all of us under the tent.  And he then proceeds to just laugh and laugh.  I should also mention that typically by this point he has turned off the light in the room as well so it is dark under the tent.

One day we saw Kitty cleaning her leg.  Her leg was stretched out and Ford thought it was hilarious and started laughing so hard.  It was a true spontaneous belly laugh and then he kept telling Kitty to put her leg back up.  The boy is so in love with Kitty Girl and she makes him so happy.  If he wakes up in a bad mood after nap and Kitty is around, either inside or out on the patio, it will cheer him up and he will immediately be in a better mood as he talks to her and hugs her.

The other day Ford said to me “Giraffey is not breakable.  If he gets hurt I’ll take him to the hospital and will lay him down.”

Ford now can identify “H” for “Hayes” and “T” for “Tripp.”  They practice each student’s first letter of their name and it is working.  He also identified the “r” and “x” while playing with letters the other day.

Last Wednesday Ford’s class celebrated Dr. Seuss’s birthday.  They each made a Dr. Seuss and got a “cat in the hat” hat to wear.

Ford has started saying the /l/ sound, especially in the middle of words.  He slightly over pronounces it at times which is so funny.  He loves saying “Cinderella” now and it comes out “Cindalella!” with his tongue coming out for the /l/ sounds.  I have not been working on this by the way, it has just come in on its own and is amazing as a speech pathologist to see him basically teach himself how to correctly pronounce that sound.  He occasionally will correctly pronounce a “th” as well, but not as often as the medial /l/.  Same goes for the /l/ at the beginning of words.  I have heard it some, but most of the time it is still said as a /w/.

Ford is slightly obsessed with “cozy” pants (sweat pants or fleece pants that are comfy) and “jerseys” (any shirt that has a football team on it a football).  He has been known to throw slight fits when there are no cozy pants or jerseys clean to wear.  He is not a fan of his nicer clothes and says his pants fall down (which they don’t really but for whatever reason he does not like the feel of them).  I thought girls were supposed to be the particular ones when it came to clothes.

Today after church Ford changed back into his football jersey and decided he would leave his pants off.  During our play time he went out on the front porch, pretending to be the mail man and delivering a package to us.  As he was out there (no pants on) a car drove by.  Ford turned and yelled at the car “slow down!”

Our boy continues to amaze us and make us laugh.

January 21, 2011

While we were in Fort Worth and Shreveport back in November Ford continued his interest in knowing what street everyone lived on. One of the first things he asked Lisa when she picked us up was “Lisa, what’s your street name?”   Then on our way to Charlotte’s house it was “Momma, what’s Charlotte’s street?”  In Shreveport he went down the list as well asking what street Grandad lives on and Honey and Gram etc.

When Lisa was asking Ford about football he said “I like the Gamecocks and TCU! The tigers are not my favorite.”

When Sandi and Patti were talking to him about football one of them said “How are the Gamecocks” and Ford said “they’re doing well.” Before the SEC Championship game he told anyone who would listen ”I will ride a school bus to go see the Gamecocks beat the Tigers!”

While we were at the Everlys Ford and Charlotte both got in her crib. Ford would lay down and she would cover him up. When I walked in to see them Ford said “I am in the hospital because my feetsies are hurt.”  I asked “how did they get hurt?”  Ford responded “I was running so hard because I am a football player and they got hurt.”   Then later still in the crib with me watching them play. . . “Momma I want you to go in the kitchen.”  I asked “why?” and Ford’s response was “because I want Amanda.”  When Amanda got them out of the crib Ford ran in the family room and said “I was in Charlotte’s room because my feet got hurt but I am better now!”

Ford has been telling us he loves us a lot lately. He will say “Momma, I love you a lot. I love Dada too, and I love Kitty.”  The other day I said to him first “I love you my little moose!” and Ford said back to me “I love you my little Momma!”

Ford is completely into football. He wants to play football, throw the football, kick the football, run like a football player etc. Lately Ford has had more of an opinion about what he wears each
day. Typically he wants his “fighting goats shirt” (a t-shirt that says just that he thinks is a football jersey) or his “football jersey” which would be a hand me down sweatshirt with a football on it.  To help get him to wear something we have been known to say “football players wear ___.”  For example, his garnet colored pants. “Ford, Gamecock football players
wear these pants. They’re garnet.”  Now he calls them his football pants. To get him to wear his Keens one day we said “Those are football shoes. Just like the cletes the football players wear.” It works. I just wish I could do this for all of his clothes. . .

Ford pretending to be a teacher and reading to the class. Love how his leg is crossed!

pictures

The first night we were in Colorado Ford woke up in the middle of the night and would not go back in his crib.  Since I was so tired I just brought him in bed with me as Jeff wasn’t there yet. At 4:45 am Ford woke up and wanted to eat breakfast. I told him it was still night time and he could not have breakfast yet.  So, at 5:15 he nuzzled up to me again and said “I have an
idea! Let’s get pancakes!”  I laughed and gave in to the boy.  The second night we were there my Grandma came over for dinner.  Before hand Ford was pushing his huge dump truck
around the family room and kitchen, doing loop after loop.  Each time he came through the family room he stopped by the chair G.G. was in and said to her with such enthusiasm “So, how are you doin’ G.G.?”  Every. Single. Time.  She of course loved it.

On my birthday we all headed to The Broadmoor to see the beautiful decorations and gingerbread display.  When we were getting ready my Mom came in the family room and called “Bob” looking for my Dad.  Ford said to her, “Bob is downstairs with Bailey, Gramma.”

After spending some time at The Broadmoor Jeff and I went to a movie while my parents brought Ford home for dinner and bed.  As soon as they got in the house Ford took off is shoes (as he always does) and then proceeded to quiz my Dad as to why his shoes were still on.   He also wanted to know if Papa was leaving since his shoes were on.  The boy seriously thinks you need your shoes off at home.  He will tell Jeff when he gets home from work “Dada, take off your shoes.”

One Saturday we took Ford to Gymboree. He was wearing his Disney World shirt and someone asked “Ford, what’s that on your shirt?”  Ford replied “it’s Disney World! It’s my favorite place!”

On Saturday, January 8, we went to see the men’s basketball game.  During half-time Jeff took Ford to try and find Cocky, but also took him along while he gave a short tour to a donor.  They went in the media room where they do press conferences and Ford decided he wanted to go up to the microphone and give his own press conference.

At the beginning of January Ford started recognizing the letter “f” in print!  He can find it in any place of a word and the word can be in a book or on the computer and even on the TV!  When we were at his three-year well check up on January 18 he had his first eye test that had various pictures rather than letters like we use.  There was a circle on the chart and Ford called it the letter “o!”  I was so proud of him.

I love Ford’s unique vocabulary words for certain things. . .

“PCS Truck” is the UPS Truck

“DVDVs” are DVDs and I love that he will say something like this “Momma, I watch Max and Ruby DVDV!” and says it with such excitement and emphasis on the last “V”

Soccer/football players comes out as “soccer/football crayers” and when he says restaurant it comes out “restronk”

Octopus has been “oc uh pus” lately

hospital has been “hos ti ble”

While in Colorado in September he started talking about “chefers” while we were at Texas Road House where you can see the chefs grilling the steaks.  He was mixing the word griller and chef and has been calling chefs/cooks “chefers” ever since- ex.  While we were at Chopsticks with my parents, ”Momma, where are the chefers?”  or at home in our kitchen with a stirring spoon “Momma, I’m the chefer”

When Ford is playing soccer or football he will stop and lay down on the ground and say something like this: “Soccer players need to rest” or “I’m tired, I need to rest” and he lays down or sits down for about five seconds and then hops back up and is back running and kicking the ball again.

If you call Ford a baby he will say “I’m not a baby!  I’m a boy!”

When it was picture day at school Jeff told Ford to find me to brush his hair and Ford said “I need to look good for Isabel!”  Have no idea where that came from, but we got a laugh out of it.  He loves his Isabel!

When Ford woke up from his nap the Sunday we went to Boo at the Zoo he asked if Isabel was coming over before the zoo for dinner.  I said yes and then he exclaimed “I will be so happy to see her!”  He truly loves his friend.

When Jeff was driving Ford to school one morning recently he said to Ford, “Ford, do you love Mrs. McCall?”  Ford replied:  “Yes. I love her.  I love Isabel too.”

Here are two pictures of Ford in his elephant mask he got at Boo at the Zoo.  The majority of the time he wore it on his forehead as in the second picture.

Ford has been asking what street people live on.  He will ask “What street does Tripp live on?”  “What street does Caraway live on?” and will continue to go down the list of his friends.  He will always follow-up with “I live on Brentwood Drive!”

Ford really does have such a sweet heart.  He tells me a lot “Momma, I love you.  I love Dada too!”

As I was getting Ford dried off after a bath the drain made a loud noise.  Ford asked “did you go excuse me?”  (meaning did I toot).  I told him it was the bathtub drain making that noise.  He then said “my bathtub toot!”  and laughed.  I laughed which then caused him to say it over and over again, laughing after each time he said it.  Boys.

During a bath a few weeks back Ford picked up his wash cloth and said he was going to clean his tub.  As he picked up the white wash cloth he said “like Gran.”  We had been to Zoe’s that day for lunch and Gran helps by wiping the tables down (with a white cloth), bringing food, and just helping out in any way needed.  So, Ford then pretended to be Gran and clean the top of the side of his tub while saying “I’m Gran” or “I clean Gran’s house.”

On Wednesday September 8 I got a text from my friend, Emily, shortly after I dropped Ford off at school.  This is what it said “ Ford was so cute when we got to school.  He moved from where he was on the other side of the table and pulled up a chair so he could sit with Hayes.”  Aww- what a good friend Bean is.  It has really been awesome to see Ford’s frienships blossom.  He looks forward to seeing his friends and they actually interact a lot more than they used to which is fun to see.

That same day Ford was able to stay late at school.  After they eat lunch they get to go out on the playground which he loves.  When I walked up to the playgroun to pick him up I was able to “spy” on him for a minute.  He and Isabel were in the play house putting woodchips on the table and then taking their hands and swiping them off.  All the while they were both just grinning and laughing!  It was so fun to see.  One of the teachers came up and said that he and Isabel had been having so much fun playing that day.  She also said that earlier they were both in the playhouse along with Pierce and Ben and she said it looked like they were having a meeting.  She said they all looked serious and were sitting on the chairs in the house.  I love that Ford is playing with friends and that he loves his school so much!

A few weeks ago I was asking Ford about school and asked him what snacks they had eaten lately.  He said “na nan nos.”  I asked again and again he said “na na nos.”  Hmm- I tried to guess what that meant and asked if he meant vanilla wafers and he said “no, not nilla wafers.”  Ok.  So, I asked his teacher if they had had any special snacks that sounded like “na na nos.”  Nope, they hadn’t.  One of my friends suggested it might be Dananinos yogurt.  So, thinking that was what Ford was talking about I bought some at the store.  He wasn’t too excited about them and in fact only ate one of them.  So, back to square one.  I asked Mrs. McCall again about it and asked if they had had Dananinos yogurt to which she said “no, nothing really out of the ordinary.”  Fast forward a couple weeks and a few times of “na na nos” coming up in conversation.  Ford and I were on the airplane to Colorado and I pulled out a special treat, M & Ms.  Ford exclaimed “Na na nos!!!!!”  Ahh Hah!  Finally, we figure out the meaning of “na na nos”. . . M & Ms!  So, there ya have it.  “Na na nos” are M & Ms.  And it is just so darn cute to hear him say it.  And since we giggle when he says it, he will say it over and over with a huge smile on his face while he giggles along too.

After riding the carousel with Papa in Colorado he said to Papa “I like this zoo!”

Driving home from the zoo in Colorado Ford said “Gramma, my decaf is all done.  My coffee was good.”  We had Starbucks that morning and my mom had ordered “decaf” of her coffee drink.  No, he did not get coffee, nor has he ever tasted coffee, but he likes to pretend he is making coffee and or drinking coffee (even though neither of his parents drink coffee).

Driving in the early evening Ford said “oohh a big moon.  how nice!”  as he noticed the moon out early that day.

As we were leaving and getting in the car at my Grandma’s, “that was fun at G.G.’s house!”

Tidbits and Treasures #1

August 31, 2010

I am starting a new, recurring title and post for our blog.  Tidbits and Treasures will consist of anything I want to share and remember from little stories or quotes from Ford or just a random picture or two,  but that aren’t necessarily an entire blog post.  So, here is the first edition of Tidbits and Treasures.

One night when I was out and Jeff was home with Ford they tried to call me so Ford could say good-night.  Here is the message I received:

“Hi Momma!  Oh, she’s not there.  She’s not talking.  She’s not. . .Hi Momma!  Hi!  I love you.  I can’t hear, I can’t hear you Mom.  I can’t hear Mommy.  Love you Momma.  Night-night.  Bye!”  I still have it on my phone and have listened to it a few times.  Every time it makes me smile and love that boy even more.

Last week we were sitting at a red light next to a gas station.  There was a guy pumping gas with out his shirt on and Ford said “the gentleman forget his shirt Momma!”

Any time a motorcycle passes us and the rider is not wearing a helmet we hear some version of this:  “That man needs a helmet!”

Today Ford wanted to pretend we were flying.  He has quite the vision lately as how we should “play” certain things.  We had certain spots on our hallway rug we each had to stand on to “take off.”  Then we put our arms out and “flew” (ran really) down the hall to the back door in the kitchen.  Then Ford wanted me to sit on the rug and watch him fly.  He said “cheer for me Momma!”

Jeff took Ford to the soccer game Sunday afternoon for a bit.  Ford loved every minute.  After the game he was able to run on the field for a bit and said “Chase me Dada!”  and then “Cheer for me Dad!”

This weekend after Jeff changed Ford’s diaper he tried to turn his diaper pail handle over which puts the diaper inside.  He was having trouble and said “How does my mother do this?”  He has never called me “mother” before and am not quite sure where he has heard that, but Jeff and I thought it was hysterical!  This morning he tried it again and said (a little under his breath)  “How does Gramma do this?”
